TwinShip Highlighted at ASSIST Software’s AI Event in Augsburg: Advancing the Future of Maritime Intelligence
As Europe accelerates its transition toward data-driven and intelligent maritime operations, the TwinShip project is charting the course for a new generation of AI-enabled vessels and sustainable maritime innovation.
Launched in February 2025, TwinShip is laying the groundwork for a new era of AI-driven maritime innovation. The initiative aims to harness digital twins, data quality governance, and intelligent decision-support systems to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability across the maritime sector.
At this stage, TwinShip partners are defining the core frameworks and models that will enable vessels to act as self-adaptive systems, capable of learning from real-time data and supporting energy-efficient routing, predictive maintenance, and the adoption of green technologies.
The project was recently showcased during ASSIST Software Gmbh’s AI-focused event at its office at the Augsburg Technology Center (TZA) on September 26, 2025. Beyond marking a milestone for ASSIST’s expansion in Germany, the event created an opportunity for meaningful exchanges with representatives from local businesses, universities, and public institutions, focusing on the transformative power of AI and data.

The event not only marked a milestone for ASSIST Software’s expansion in Germany but also opened meaningful dialogue with representatives from local businesses, universities, and public institutions. Discussions centered on the transformative impact of AI, data governance, and digital twins, placing TwinShip at the heart of Europe’s maritime innovation agenda.
We remind you that TwinShip – Integrated Digital TWIN Framework to enable Green SHIP – is a project funded under Horizon Europe (HORIZON-CL5-2024-D5-01-15: Advanced digitalization and modeling utilizing operational and other data to support zero-emission waterborne transport), with Grant Agreement ID number 101192583.
